Abstract

568,331. Controlling aircraft. KAISER CARGO, Inc. June 11, 1943, No. 9447. Convention date, July 29, 1942. [Class 4] A landing flap 6 is provided with auxiliary flaps 8 pivoted thereto and normally nesting therein, but which can be rotated simultaneously in opposite direction to provide an air brake, the auxiliary flaps being provided with openings 10 which register with bosses 11 formed on the surfaces of the landing flap, when the auxiliary flaps are retracted, thus presenting a smooth outer surface. The flaps 8 may be operated hydraulically by means of crank arms 12 connected to the actuating piston by linkwork.
