Class 123(1) Closure means for the part of a pressure container comprises a slidably mounted plug 15 in the port and a plurality of retaining members 25, 26 extending laterally over the outer surface 17 of the plug and a portion 27 in engagement with the container adjacent the port to prevent outward movement of the plug. The retaining members 25, 26 have complementary locking means with the plug to prevent their lateral movement out of engagement with the container when the plug is adjacent the retaining members. The retaining members are removed by pressing the plug downwards thereby ensuring that the device cannot be dismantled while there is a high pressure in the container. The retaining members are arcuate and L-shape in cross-section, the limbs 27 extending under a lip 14 on the rim of the port of the container. A circular projection 21 engages in a groove 34 in the other limb 28 of the retaining members and the pieces are held tighter by means of a snap ring 36. Complete sealing is achieved by use of a sealing ring 23. The pressure inside of the container may be gradually released by a valve in the aperture 19 in the plug. In a modification, the projection 21 may be on the retaining devices and the groove 34 in the plug.
