Abstract

669,935. Pressure cookers. KELLER, M. Aug. 19, 1949, No. 21576/49. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 27, 1950.] Class 123 (i). In a pressure cooker in which the lid 1 is locked to the vessel 2 by the interengagement o f segments 5, 4 on the two parts respectively and fluid-tightness is secured by a packing ring 8 which projects from a groove 7 within the lid to engage a conical surface 3 at the mouth of the vessel, the mouth edge of the vessel is provided with one or more recesses or perforations 13 and the ring 8 with corresponding edge recesses or slots 15 all so disposed that the cooker is open to atmosphere except when the lid and vessel are in the final locked position. The upper end of the packing ring 8 and the groove 7 may be of conical form, with or without the annular projection 10 and groove 6 shown, and the edge of each recess or slot 15 is provided with a sealing bead 16. In a modification the packing ring is of such a width that its lower edge is located above the lower edges of the recesses 13 and it has integral downwardly-extending lugs to mask said recesses when the vessel and lid are finally locked together.
