499,076. Closures for containers. NOFER, P. Feb. 25, 1938, No. 6005. [Class 125 (iii)] In a closure device for containers comprising a cover 5, Figs. 1 and 3, provided on its periphery with a partly supported resilient wire loop 8, the unsupported parts of which engage in the closed position with projections 9 on the rim of the container 1, the unsupported ports of the wire are relatively short, i.e. they each subtend on the centre of the cover an angle of approximately 5‹ so that the wire presents a circular form. The ring 8 is extended or compressed radially while moving over the projections 9, and in the closed position engages with their lower ends. Gaps 10, Fig. 5, corresponding with the projections 9 are provided on the edge of the cover and are bridged by the ring 8. The container may be provided with a co-operating ring 2 to the inner edge 3 of which a bag 4 may be secured. The cover 5 is provided with a packing 6 of rubber or the like and if desired an inner glass cover 7 may be provided. In a modification the projections 9 are on the outer side of the container, Fig. 9, and may be arranged on or formed from a strip 11, Fig. 11, rigidly secured around the rim of the container.
