Abstract

801,109. Automatic stop motions for looms. SULZER FRERES S.A. June 14, 1956 [June 24, 1955], No. 18480/56. Class 142(2) To enable the weaver to verify that a fault has been correctly remedied, a loom is stopped with the slay at beat-up position immediately on re-starting. When a handle 69 is turned anti-clockwise to disengage the pattern mechanism from its drive, an arm 56 rides out of a notch 67 in a disc 66, thereby turning a shaft 55 to stop the loom (if the shaft has not already been turned by an automatic stop motion or another manual control handle); at the same time, a lever 57, previously resting against a flat 65, is moved along the shaft, thereby bringing a roller 58 clear of a stop 62 and into the path of a cam 54, the roller being raised into contact with the cam by a spring 59, in which position it lies against the side of the stop 62. When the pattern mechanism has been reclutched to its drive by returning the handle 69 to the position shown, the loom can be started by turning the shaft 55; rotation of the cam 54 then depresses the roller 58, causing the lever 57 to turn the shaft 55 by striking a pin 181, the mechanism being timed to bring the loom to rest at front centre. As the lobe of the cam 54 passes the roller 58, a spring 63 slides the lever 57 back to the position shown. In a modification, the handle 69 has an intermediate setting at which the pattern mechanism is declutched without bringing the stoping mechanism into operation. Specification 762,050 is referred to.
