Abstract
638,747. Bobbin building mechanism. DOMINION TEXTILE CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1947, No. 682. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1946. [Class 120 (ii)] In bobbin-building mechanism furnished with reduced-traversing means for winding a bunch on the bobbin before the fulltraversing means effects the normal building of the yarn, means are provided whereby the reducedtraversing means may be continued in operation, if required, for a longer period of time, in order to wind a larger bunch on a bobbin to be used in the weaving of wider-width cloth. The reduced traverse means comprises a driven bushing 22 formed with a flange 24 and a slot 44, in which a plate 46 is situated, the plate being projected . from the slot during bunch-forming by a threethrow cam 56 formed on the bushing. Upon the bushing 22 is freely mounted the full-traverse cam 14, which may be connected thereto and driven therefrom by a pivoted spring-urged clutch member 28 formed with a handle 32 and a dog 36. A cover plate 58 is rotatably attached to the bushing, the rotation being limited by a slot and bolt connection 62, 50, so that after the bushing 22 has made a complete revolution, and therefore effected three short double traverses through the bunch-forming means 56, 46, 16, a peg 78 on the plate 58 will contact an adjustable standard 80 on the builder levers 16, so preventing further movement of the plate 58 to open a notch 26 in the flange 24 into which the dog 36 falls to clutch the builder cam 14 to the driven bushing 22. The full traverse of the spindle rail is thus effected. To initiate a fresh bunchbuilding operation, the operative depresses a plunger 34, so lifting the clutch dog 36 from the notch 26, to declutch the cam 14 from the driven bushing 22. In a modification, when a larger bunch is necessary, as in weaving wider cloth, the adjustable standard 80 is replaced by a pivoted lever 86 having two arms 88, 90 furnished with studs 92, 94. This lever, which is first tipped through 90 degrees by the impact of the peg 78 on the stud 94, will allow two complete rotations of the bushing 22, in six traverses of the bunch building mechanism, before the fulltraverse cam 14 is coupled to the bushing for normal building. The lever 86 is turned back to its original position by contact with a member 98 fixed to the machine. Specification 343,621 is referred to.
