Abstract

The process of heat treating white cast iron containing 0.7 per cent 3.0 per cent copper as claimed in the parent Specification is modified by quenching after heating to above the eutectoid temperature into oil at 95 to 110 DEG C. and then cooling to room temperature in air, or by a direct quench to room temperature in cold oil. The castings treated have a thickness less than 13/32 inches.
