Abstract
799,370. Two-part couplings. WARD & GOLDSTONE, Ltd., and HOLT, H. May 3, 1957 [May 18, 1956], No. 15497/56. Class 38 (1). In a plug-and-socket connector comprising interlocking male and female members 10, 23 secured, e.g. by crimping, to the ends of leads, the male member comprises a bifurcated blade 13 apertured at 15, 16 and having a tapered tip and lateral projections 18. The female member is of channel form, the side walls 25 of which are curled over at 26 so as to overlie the base whereby on insertion of the blade 13 they press it against the base of the channel. The distance between the side walls is slightly less than the width of the blade so that they are forced apart by the projections 18 until the latter snap into recesses 27, at which point shoulders 20 on the blade abut the end of the female member. Additional security of connection is provided by a projection 28 on the base of the member 23 which snaps into the aperture 16 in the blade.
