Abstract
798,145. Storing gases under pressure. SPARKLETS, Ltd. April 30, 1957 [May 11, 1956], No. 14734/56. Addition to 710,196. Class 8(2). In means for puncturing a sealing cap of a compressed gas container (not shown) as claimed in the parent Specification and wherein a pin 30 located in a bore 2 of a housing 1 adapted to receive the container neck is forced towards the cap by a piston 25 slidably mounted in the bore 2 and positively displaced in both the forward and return directions by toggle means 36, 37 and wherein said pin 30 is carried by a member 29 separate from the piston 25 and slidable in a housing 22 within the bore 2 and abutting against the face of the piston 25 remote from the toggle means, the pin-carrying member 29 is surrounded by a friction washer 50 which abuts the face of the housing 22 adjacent the piston 25. The washer 50 acts with a compression spring 33 which normally assists in the retraction of the pin to prevent accidental piercing of the cap should the container be subjected to a sudden shock. The toggle mechanism is as described in the parent Specification.
