Abstract

874,031. Hydraulic buffers. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd. Dec. 1, 1958 [Nov. 15, 1957], No. 35704/57. Class 103(5). A hydraulic buffer has a spring returned plunger 3 shouldered at 4 and slidable within a pressure cylinder 1 having holes 7 which may be closed successively during compression. The axis of the cylinder 1 is below the centre of the base 2, and a metal shell 9 swaged at its front end 10 to the cylinder, is eccentrically mounted with respect to the cylinder to provide a space 8 containing liquid to a level above the top of the cylinder 1. The air space above the liquid is of a volume sufficient to exceed the liquid displacement at full buffer compression. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 756,260.
