Abstract
797,964. Thermionic cathode constructions. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 29, 1956 [April 2, 1955], No. 9932/56. Class 39(1)' A cage cathode is formed by two sets of wires wound helically in opposite directions, one set wholly within the other, and only the outer set being emissive. Since the emissive wires all lie in the same cylindrical surface, the cathode-grid distance is thus everywhere uniform. The inner wires 5 may be of tungsten, tantalum, or molybdenum, and the outer wires 4 of the same material thoriated. The support wires may be fewer and/or thinner than the emissive wires, and the crossings occasionally welded together.
