Description
The invention relates to a directly heated cage-shaped cathode for electrical discharge tubes for high frequencies, especially for transmission tubes.
Cage-shaped cathodes, consisting of a number of wires divided into two groups, are known; there is one group with a right-handed and the other with a left-handed Spiral or part thereof. The wires of each group are on one level, z. B. a cylinder jacket, and the plane of revolution of one of the two wire groups is coaxially within the other group, while the wires of the two groups are welded together at some cross points are. The wires are attached at each end to a support that is fixed in place in the tube is. Since the wires lie helically on one plane, the supports do not need to be movable to be attached because the expansion of the wires when heated a greater or lesser curvature in one plane, so that no difficulties are caused. However, one of the supports can also be carried by the wires themselves. The supports are preferably in the form of a metal one Ring washer to which the cathode wires are attached.
Since the cathode wires are not in a single plane, the disadvantage arises that the distance until the next grid is not the same for all wires. The difference in distance has to The result is that two groups of electrons with different transit times pass through the cathode-grid space. These electron groups do not work together and reduce the efficiency of the tube at high frequencies. This disadvantage is particularly great when the distance between the cathode and the first grating is small, as is the case with high and very high frequency tubes.
This disadvantage is almost completely avoided when using a directly heated cathode for electrical Discharge tubes for high frequencies, which consists of a cage with one right and one left-hand spiral is formed, the wires of which are each arranged on coaxial planes are attached at each end to a common support line, according to the invention only the wires placed in the plane closest to the adjacent electrode have good thermal electron emission.
Die in der inneren Ebene liegende Drahtgruppe wird vorzugsweise aus Wolfram, Tantal oder Molybdändraht hergestellt, während die in der äußeren Ebene liegende Drahtgruppe vorzugsweise aus einem Direkt geheizte käfigförmige Kathode für elektrische EntladungsröhrenThe wire group lying in the inner plane is preferably made of tungsten, tantalum or molybdenum wire produced, while lying in the outer plane wire group preferably from one Directly heated cage-shaped cathode for electrical discharge tubes

Die Erfindung wird an Hand einer Zeichnung näher erläutert, in derThe invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing in which

Fig. 2 shows a section through a transmitter tube with such a cathode.
Im allgemeinen ist esIn Fig. 1, 1 denotes a central support rod on which a metal support in the form of a Disk 2 is attached. A retaining ring 3 is provided at the other end of the cathode. Between the pane 2 and the ring 3, two wire sets 4 and 5 are attached. The sentence 4 is in this case as right-handed Spiral wound on a cylinder plane which lies outside the cylinder plane of the wires 5. the Wires 5 are wound as a left-hand spiral. The wires of the two groups are at some cross points welded together, e.g. B. at 8. All wires are run through in parallel by the heating current. Just the wires 4 have a high thermal electron emission, while the wires 5 have a low thermal emission Have emission. As can be seen from FIG. 2, “is only the distance between the grid 6 and the wires 4 decisive for the properties of the tube. The wires 5 essentially serve as holding wires, to prevent the wires 4 from hanging down. It is thus possible to reduce the number of wires 5 choose than that of the wires 4. In general it is

erwünscht, auch den Durchmesser der Drähte 5 kleiner als den der Drähte 4 zu wählen.it is desirable to also choose the diameter of the wires 5 smaller than that of the wires 4.
The grid 6 is surrounded by an anode 7, which can also form part of the tube wall.
The use of such a bevel-shaped cathode has the advantage that a large emission surface, that is, a large steepness, can be obtained.
