Abstract
797,851. Clocks and watches. BULOVA WATCH CO., Inc. Feb. 17, 1956, No. 5064/56. Class 139 '[Also in Group XXXVIII] To reduce the longitudinal component of the vibration of an electrically maintained tuning fork in a time-piece, magnets 3 carried by the tines are mounted so that, when at rest, their centres of gravity C and the fixed ends of the tines are substantially equally spaced from the axis of symmetry X-X as in Fig. 2a. The tines themselves may be bent as in Fig. 4 and, as shown, the centres of gravity G may be more closely spaced than the fixed ends of the tines. The fork is resiliently secured to a base 11, Fig. 2b by means of pins 6 engaging a plate 9 and the base 11. The plate 9 is secured to the base by a screw 10. The fork may be rigidly secured to the base by pins 6' Fig. 3 and a screw 10<SP>1</SP>.
