Abstract

746,465. Reciprocating and rotating electric motors. SOC. ANON. DES ETABLISSEMENTS L. HATOT. Sept. 2, 1954 [Sept. 17, 1953], No. 25551/54. Class 35. [Also in Group XVIII] A reciprocating or continuously rotating motor having a permanently magnetized moving member, is energized by electrical impulses fed to a sustaining coil from a battery-fed junction transistor controlled by a potential applied from a coil situated near the magnet. As shown, Fig. 1, for a clock pendulum M having a permanent magnet arm A and magnetic flux return path F, the sustaining coil BE is fed with impulses from a transistor ATr fed by a battery G and controlled by a potential from a pick-up coil BC. A further coil BS may be used to feed further synchronous devices, e.g. further clocks. The invention is also shown as applied to a pair of magnetized balance wheels on the same spindle and having a pick-up coil between them. A modification is described in which a single balance wheel is embraced by a pair of coils BE and BC respectively. The magnetic rotor A in Fig. 4 is similarly maintained in continuous rotation by periodic energization of coil BC under the control of pick-up coil BE, the transistor acting in this case as an electronic commutator. This motor may be used to drive an escapement mechanism directly or through a slipping clutch, or for winding a mainspring through gearing.
