Abstract
796,734. Magnetic recording and reproducing heads. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. July 15, 1955 [July 19, 1954], No. 20517/55. Class 40 (2). In order to permit of its being rapidly repositioned the core 15 of a magnetic recording and reproducing transducer embodied in a magnetic recorder and reproducer is so formed that it may slide along the transducer winding 16 in a plane parallel to the surface 22 of a magnetic record medium 21 with which it coacts, and the winding is arranged to be mounted adjacent the surface. As shown, the winding comprises a single turn of low resistance material and forms the sole support for the core which may be laminated and has a non- magnetic gap 17. The winding is linked with a transformer 18 comprising a multi-turn winding 19 and a core 20.
