Abstract
803,624. Magnetic recording and reproducing heads. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 20, 1957 [June 20, 1956], No. 19037/56. Class 40 (2). In a multi-track recording or reproducing head assembly in which two or more closely spaced heads 1, 2 each have a core of magnetic material with at least one non-magnetic gap 4, 10 therein, main and auxiliary inductive windings are associated with each core, each main winding 6, 7 or 12, 13 being so coupled to the auxiliary winding 14, 8 of the or each adjacent head that cross-talk between the heads is reduced. In use the heads shown are stacked with their gaps 4, 10 lying in a common plane, and signals are fed to or derived from the head 1 by leads a1, a2, and to or from the head 2 by leads b1, b2. In a modification, the auxiliary windings 8, 14 are connected directly together and each serves to couple the other inductively with the main winding of the adjacent head.
