Abstract

504,932. Telegraphones. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS GES. Oct. 28, 1937, No. 29540. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1936. Class 40 (ii)] In apparatus in which sound is recorded on or reproduced from a band of magnetizable material moving past magnet polepieces, the gap between the polepieces widens in a direction transversely to the direction of recording (i.e. the direction in which the record carrier is magnetized), in order to compensate for frequency distortion or to give a frequency characteristic of special form. Several forms of gaps are shown, two examples being shown at a and b in the Figure. The record band is assumed to be moving from left to right across the drawing. The polepieces may be arranged in contact with opposite sides of the record band ; when they are on the same side of the band, the gap may be filled with non-magnetic material.
