Abstract

796,608. Glazing strips and window frames. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON, Ltd. July 12, 1956 [Aug. 4, 1955], No. 22372/55. Class 20(3) A glazing member of the kind comprising a strip 3 of resilient material, e.g. rubber, which is formed with a longitudinal groove 4 to receive an edge of a window, or other panel 1 and is removably seated in a downwardly inclined shallow channel 5 of a support frome 2, resilient lip 14 engaging beneath a wall 6 of an upstanding outer flange 7 of the frame 2, is characterized in that the inside wall 8 of the channel 5, which is adjacent an upstanding panel wall 9 confining an adjacent wall 13 of the channel 4 in place, is provided with a lip 11 which overhangs the base of the inclined channel 5 and projects into a groove 15 formed in the corresponding side of the strip 3. Preferably the outer face of the wall 13 is serrated at 13a. In a modification, the wall 9, instead of being formed as part of a panel, is formed as an integral part of the frame 2. The glazing strip may be slit from the base upwards so that the resilient flap is hingedly connected as described in Specification 503,308.
