795,123. Liquid fuel burners. BOCHUMER VEREIN FUR GUSSSTAHLFABRIKATION VEREIN AKT.-GES. Nov. 25, 1955 [Nov. 25, 1954], No. 33901/55. Class 75(1) In a method of or apparatus for oil firing in which heated oil is supplied to a burner and is atomized by compressed gas the gas is compressed and then divided into two streams the first stream, after heating, being passed through an enclosed space in a vessel containing oil to be heated, the second stream being fed to the vessel to subject the oil to pressure to cause the oil to flow towards the burner the first stream being fed after passage through the vessel to the burner so as to effect atomization of the oil thereat. Blast furnace waste gas compressed to about 7 atmospheres by a compressor 1 is fed to a pressure vessel 2 where it is divided into two streams the first stream being fed to heater 3, where it is heated by a blast furnace waste gas burner, and then through a heater coil 5 inside an, oil tank 4 to a jacket 6 surrounding an oil pipe 7 leading from the tank 4 to the burner nozzle 8. Tubes 9 lead from the jacket 6 to the the nozzle 8 for atomizing the oil supply thereto. The second compressed gas stream is fed from the vessel 2 through a pipe 10 to the top of the fuel tank 4 to maintain the fuel therein under pressure.
