Both members of an eddy-current brake carry squirrel cages and the numbers of teeth on the two members are equal, as shown, such limb of the channel section stator is toothed with conducting metal S4 in the gaps united by end rings S3 and there is a similar cage on the rotor extending between end rings K3. It may be incorporated in an epicyclic gear, e.g. with the rotor integral with the outer toothed annulus 1 or with the planet carrier.
