Abstract
579,043. Friction gearing. BRISSONNET, P., and DURAND, G. A. Feb. 26, 1940, No. 3560. Convention date, May 23, 1939. [Class 80 (i)] In a planetary gear system, particularly for driving the shaft 10 of a supercharger compressor, comprising planet rollers 9 frictionally engaging a resilient ring 11 within a metal casing 12, the ring being of such size that is deformed by the rollers and only engages the casing at regions adjacent the rollers, leaving clearance spaces 16 between the rollers, the metal of the casing has a substantially greater co-efficient of expansion than that of the ring 11, so that the spaces 16 still remain when the temperature of the system increases during operation. The casing may be of aluminium and the ring of steel. The rollers 9 may have slight play on their shafts 8, which are carried by a plate 7 integral. with the driving shaft 6.
