733,590. Friction clutches. HINDMARCH, T. Nov. 11, 1953 [March 25, 1953],No. 8204/53. Class 80 (2). A friction clutch has axially slidable annularly grooved members 7, 8 engageable with axially fixed members 1, 2, which are mounted in a surrounding casing 14 by bearings 12, 13. As shown, the members 1, 2 are parts of a gear wheel 3 and the clutch is engaged by admitting fluid pressure between the members 7, 8. Such a gear 3 may be used in change speed or reversing gearing. Specification 654,652 is referred to.
