Abstract
792,764. Cooling furnace grates. VORKAUF, H. April 4, 1955 [April 5, 1954], No. 9771/55. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XIII] In the grate-cooling arrangement shown in Figs. 1, 2, each side wall lower header 1 of the combustion chamber wall tubular cooling system is screened by horizontally disposed cooling tube sets 7, 7a, the former passing along the side wall from its centre to its front edge whilst the latter pass from the centre to the rear edge. The tube sets are connected to the bciler circulation through riser tubes 9 and appropriate downcomers 2, 4 and are protected by cast-iron plates 10, the space between the header and the tubes being filled with heatinsulating material. In a modification, the cooling tubes are of square cross-section. Two or more riser tubes may be connected to each cooling tube, the risers being distributed at uniform intervals along the tube length. Each cooling tube set may comprise a group of more than two tubes, the tubes being disposed in superposed arrangement.
