Abstract

922,796. Sectional boilers. I. CIALENTE. Oct. 24, 1960, No. 36424/60. Class 123 (2). A sectional boiler comprises a number of cast-iron sections 6, 6<SP>11</SP> which are arranged side-by-side to form continuous walls of a furnace chamber and are connected between a common upper header 1 and independent lower headers 3, 3<SP>1</SP> by conduits 2, 21 and 7, 71 respectively which are of considerably smaller internal flow area than the headers 1, 3 and are preferably not greater than a fifth thereof. The conduits 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and 7, 7<SP>1</SP> fulfil the function of expansion absorbing members. Each section incorporates three conduits c, each having a mean diameter of less than two inches. In a modification, Fig. 4, (not shown), seriallyinterconnected pairs of sections are arranged in parallel between the headers, the uppermost sections being inclined from the corresponding lower vertical sections towards the upper header.
