Abstract

924,596. Water-tube steam boilers; hotwater boilers. V. CAROSSO. Feb. 21, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 6661/62. Classes 64 (1) and 123 (2). A steam or hot-water boiler comprises spaced outer and inner side panels 4, 5 of contiguous, substantially vertical water tubes connected at the top and bottom respectively to horizontal headers which are themselves interconnected by further relatively widelyspaced inclined tubes 8, 9. The tubes of the inner panel are shaped to define a rectangular combustion chamber and are alternately inclined or vertical as they approach the upper header to form gaps 12 through which the gases escape into the side flue spaces 10 between the panels 4, 5. A horizontal baffle 13 divides the flue spaces so that the gases are first directed to a front panel 6 of vertical water tubes and then return to the rear panel 7 consisting of separate inner and outer banks of tubes which allow the gases to pass to an uptake. The panels are enclosed in a heatinsulating casing. The upper inner and outer headers are connected to flow and return collectors 2, 3 respectively.
