Abstract

915,535. Sectional boilers. GENERALE THERMIQUE-PROCEDES BROLA. May 30, 1960 [June 1, 1959], No. 19021/60. Class 123 (2). A sectional boiler comprises a series of inner sections 3, 5, 7 which abut lower and upper water manifolds 1, 2 and enclose therewith a furnace chamber 9 and a series of outer sections 4, 6, 8 which abut the inner sections at the top and the bottom. Feedwater preheated by admixture with a small proportion of the outgoing hot water is admitted to the manifold 1 whence it flows into the sections through holes 20, 21 and rises therein to pass into the outlet manifold 2 through holes 22, 23. Hot gases from the furnace 9 pass forwardly between the upper halves of the inner and outer sections above baffle plates 15 and then rearwardly between the lower halves under the baffles to back outlets, the opposing faces of the sections being provided with heat extracting fins 11. The longitudinal separation of the sections minimizes the thermal stresses therein.
