805,067. Water - tube steam boilers. VORKAUF, H. Feb. 22, 1955 [Feb. 22, 1954], No. 5281/55. Class 123(2) In a water-tube steam boiler comprising a furnace 4 having its front and rear walls lined with generating tubes 3, 6 extending respectively from lower distributers 2, 9 to a common collector 5 disposed at the same level as the boiler steam and water drum 1, the collector serves as a preseparator for the steam-water mixture, the ends of the collector being connected by horizontal tubes 7 to the drum 1 and by downtubes 8 to the distributer 9. Steam-water mixture entering the collector from the tubes 3 travels outwardly to the ends thereof, some steam separation occurring in the collector and in the spaces, see Fig. 2, above the water level in the downtubes so that a mixture of low water content flows to the drum through the tubes 7. The down-tubes 8 may be extended upwardly to form steam offtake tubes which are connected to the drum 1 by pipes 19. Separated water returns directly to the distributer 9 through the tubes 8, bypassing the drum. The boiler also includes a convection section 10 discharging steamwater mixture into a similarly arranged preseparator-collector 12. The distributers, collectors, down-tubes and delivery pipes7 collectors, down-tubes and delivery pipes 7 form a frame supporting the weight of the boiler.
