Abstract
792,599. Pipe couplings. KROMSCHRODER AKT.-GES., G. Sept. 13, 1956 [Aug. 17, 1955 ; Sept. 29, 1955], Nos. 23696/55 and 27737/55. Class 99(1). In means for coupling a gas meter 13 or other through flow appliance with a pipe line through an adaptor 2, in which the inlet 8 and outlet 9 of the appliance are coaxial, as shown, or sideby-side, Fig. 2 (not shown) and form a common coupling element adapted to be coupled by a union nut 15 with a similar element of the adaptor having conduits 3, 4 which register with the inlet and outlet of the appliance, and in which the nut is rotatably mounted on the coupling element of the appliance and screws on to the element of the adaptor, a locking nut 17 screwed on the element of the appliance locks the union nut in position. A flange 15a on the nut 15 engages a shoulder 14 on the inlet 8, the latter having a smooth part 8b for centering the nut and adjacent thereto a threaded portion on which is screwed the locking nut 17.
