Abstract

790,262. Pipe couplings. JANSSEN, H. Oct. 5, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954; Oct. 28, 1954], No. 28353/55. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). [Also in Group XXIX] A connector for connecting a through-floor appliance such as a gas meter 8 to a pipe line comprises separate inlet and outlet conduits 2, 3, arranged coaxially in a common coupling member 4 adapted for connection to a common coupling element 7 containing the coaxial inlet and outlet of the appliance and the intermediate walls 11, 12, separating the coaxial conduits 2 are provided with annular channels 13, 14 closed on one side by a gasket 5 clamped between the members 4, 7, and connected by passages 15, 16 in bridge pieces 9, 10, spacing the coaxial conduits apart to restricted leak holes 17, 18 which, if gas leaks past the gasket 5, permits a small amount to escape to atmosphere to give warning that leakage is occurring past the gasket. The coupling elements 4, 7, are coupled together by a union nut 6. A warning or indicating device, operating acoustically or otherwise, may be provided at the leak holes 17, 18 or in the duct leading thereto.
