789,606. Electric water heater. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Jan. 9, 1956 [Jan. 7, 1955], No. 585/55. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XIII] ' A sheathed electric heating element 16 in a storage water heater is approximately C-shaped and lies in a horizontal plane near the bottom of the heater. A vertical tube 51 houses a thermostat. The tank has a hot water outlet pipe 19 with a tap situated above normal water level and permanently open. The hot water is displaced by cold water entering an inlet pipe 17 opening into the tank near its base and having a tap which may be foot-operated. The outlet pipe may have a bell-shaped cover with a small hole near its top to prevent syphoning. A pressure-relieving arrangement (see Group XIII) is provided.
