Class 39(3) An electric water heater has one outlet for supplying hot, but not boiling water, and another outlet for supplying boiling water. A heater 4 controlled by a thermostat 3 provides the non-boiling water which is contained within a heat insulated storage vessel 1 and is drawn off from a pipe and tap 5, 6, the pipe being provided with a further tap or a hole 7 for adding cold' water when required. Water is boiled by a heater 8 surrounded by a tube 9 open at its lower end and opening at the top into a delivery spout 11; a tube 10 closed at its lower end and open at its upper end ensures that preheated water only flows into the tube 9. A cold water storage vessel 2 for replacing water drawn from the vessel 1 has its water warmed by the jacketing of the vessel 1 by vessel 2. The vessel 1 may be dispensed with, cold water being admitted into the vessel 2 under the control of the user. Boiling water is obtained by switching on the heater 8, which action may simultaneously switch off the heater 4 to reduce total electrical loading. The vessel 1 may be vacuum insulated. According to the first Provisional Specification anoutlet pipe from the hot water region of a hot water storage vessel is fitted with a heating element, energization of the element causing hot water flowing into the pipe to be boiled and ejected by the steam formed.
