Abstract

1,242,134. Liquid heaters. W. W. BALL & SONS Ltd., and FORTE CATERING Ltd. 22 Aug., 1969 [24 May, 1968], No. 24823/68. Heading H5H. [Also in Division A4] Liquid is automatically dispensed from a combined liquid heater and dispenser when a thermostatic valve 5 in an outlet is opened in response to the liquid reaching a desired temperature. The liquid is heated by an electric immersion heater 7 which is switched off by a thermostat should it be exposed. The thermostatic valve 5 is of the wax type and is located in a well 6 in the side of the vessel 1 so that it is spaced from the heater 7. This arrangement ensures that the temperature of the liquid in contact with the thermostatic valve is below that adjacent the heater until the latter boils, such boiling causing the liquid in the well to be suddenly drawn out into the vessel and replaced by hot water which opens the valve. The vessel 1 may be metal or plastics. The hot liquid e.g. water may be arranged to pass through an infuser to a secondary vessel e.g. a coffee pot.
