Classes 64(1) and 64(2) A hot-water storage system for utilizing solar-heat comprises one or more solar-radiation collectors 1 communicating with a heat-exchanger 2 at the base of a hot-water storage tank 3, the heat-exchanger being extended upwardly within the tank by an open-ended tube 11 opening into the tank above its horizontal mid-plane. The heat-exchanger (Fig. 2) comprises a nest of tubes 8 mounted in a casing 7 through which hot water flows from the collectors 1, the tubes being open at both ends. Water is supplied, through the tubes, by a pipe T (Fig. 5) mounted in a closed insulated casing 2'. The supply is drawn off through a pipe 19 and additional heating may be provided by a thermostat-controlled immersion heater 17. The radiation collectors comprise shallow water jackets mounted in adjustably inclinable frames.
