Abstract

787,713. Ceiling-roses; two-part couplings. MASON, O. Dec. 22, 1955, No. 36829/55. Class 38 (1). The two parts of a connector, as shown a ceiling rose, of the type described and claimed in Specification 615,692, in which the detachable part 12 slides into an undercut groove 13 in the fixed part 11, are automatically spring-locked on assembly by the engagement of rounded ends of spring plunger contacts 17 with the concave upper surfaces 38 of contacts 29 in parts 11 and 12 respectively. Part 12 comprises a metal casting 27 and an insulating plug 28 located in the casting by a screw 37, the contacts 29 being screwed into said plug. Two studs 34 on the casting facilitate the insertion of part 12 into groove 13. Part 11 also comprises a metal casting 15 and contact-carrying insulating plug 16, the groove 13 being formed in a portion 20 of the casting. The contacts 17 are retained in the plug 16 by fibre discs 24, 25. A flange 23 on plug 16 is formed with locating studs (not shown) to co-operate with apertures (not shown) in the casting wall 19. The locking means may alternatively be independent of the contacts which may then have flat contact surfaces.
