Abstract

787,386. Mine cages and skips. ALLEN & SONS (TIPTON), Ltd., W. G., HALE, A. L., ANDRE RUBBER CO., Ltd., and MARSH, S. W. June 23, 1955 [March 25, 1954], No. 8681/54. Class 78 (3). Each roller 5 of a roller guide assembly for a pit cage or skip is urged into contact with the guide rail by a device comprising a weak spring 15 in series with stronger springs 16 which alone absorb major shocks due to excessive oscillation of the cage or skip. The spring 15 is a coiled spring bearing on a washer 20 and acting against a collar 19 on a ferrule 17 which engages an abutment 14 on a roller supporting lever 7, and which is adapted to contact washer 20 when spring 15 has been completely compressed. Springs 16 are rubber bushes. A nut 22 is provided to prestress the device. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the coiled spring is replaced by a conical rubber bush.
