Abstract

938,675. Bearings. AUTOSET (PRODUCTION) Ltd. Sept. 3, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 42037/61. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XIV] A ball-castor has a main ball 16 seating on a bed of smaller load-transmitting balls 12 circulating in an endless track in a housing 10, and has an annular scraper 24 contacting ball 16 on a small circle adjacent the mouth of the housing. The track is defined by surfaces of housing 10, fixed partition 11, and of collar 15 which is retained by circlips 17. The guide members 18, 19 of nylon or hard rubber are mounted on small-circles equidistant from a great circle of ball 16 backed by spring rings 22, and are contained by portion 23 of the scraper ring whose flange 25 engages the ball. Another flange of the scraper 24 bears against a resilient " O" ring 26 retained by washer 27 and circlips 28. Another form of the castor supplements the " O " ring by spring washers and dispenses with the guide members 18 and 19. Specification 856,745 is referred to.
