Abstract

1319953 Lubricant filter for bearings SKF (UK) Ltd 15 June 1970 [17 June 1969] 30677/ 69 Heading BID [Also in Division F2] A rolling bearing is provided with a lubricant filter comprising an annular disc 16 having a series of apertures 19 therein, a disc 18 of metal gauze and a rubber lip 17. In an embodiment the filter is held in a groove 14 formed in an outer race 11 of a ball bearing 15, the rubber lip 17 engaging an inner race 12 of the bearing. In modifications a filter disc 18, Fig. 4, is secured to the disc 16 by a peening operation, and the filter is provided at its outer periphery with a rubber ring 21, Fig. 5, having a portion 22 which can be snapped into the groove 14 of the outer race.
