Abstract
829,829. Roller weighting means. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Aug. 21, 1957 [Aug. 23, 1956], No. 25765/56. Class 120(2) Means for simultaneously loading a plurality of upper rollers of successive pairs of drafting rollers comprises for each upper roller a bearing member and a resilient member capable of being stressed to apply loading pressure to the bearing member, and a loading member common to all the upper rollers mounted separately from the bearing members and resilient members, and capable of being locked in position to stress the resilient members and thereby load the rollers. As shown in Fig. 3, a helical spring 20 is mounted in a telescopic housing 18, 19, and loaded by an arm 21. A locking device operates two adjacent arms 21 so that the loading on a set of upper rollers may be released with one hand. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 a leaf spring 25, which may be prestressed by a member 27, replaces the helical spring 20. Blocks of natural or synthetic rubber may be used instead of the spring 20. Specification 818,093 is referred to.
