787,188. Barrel clips. UNIVERSAL MAT CO., Ltd. Jan. 3, 1956 [Jan. 5, 1955], No. 354/55. Class 44 In a clip of the kind comprising a length of wire bent to form two parallel substantially circular Joint encircling portions 4, a part adajacent the bend being bent up to form an abutment 3 for the head of a tightening screw 8 and a nut 7 being pivotally carried by loops near the free ends of the two joint encircling portions, the wire from which the clip is made has a cross section of which the major axis is substantially greater than the min- or axis, the wire in the joint encircling portions being arranged with the major axis of the cross section parallel to the axis of the joint encircling portions. As shown the wire is of semi-circular cross section with the flat side on the inside of the clip so that it contacts the hose or the like to be fastened. The ends 6 of the two joint encircling portions beyond the loops 5 extend between the portions of the joint encircling portions adajacent the abutment 3. The nut 7 is of rectangular shape with notches on opposite sides to engage the loops 5. An oblong washer 9 is positioned between the head of the screw and the abutment 3. The wire can be crescent shaped if desired.
