Abstract

879,110. Spring clips. F.T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Jan. 31, 1958 [April 30, 1957], No. 13768/57. Divided out of 879,109. Class 44. A fastener comprises a single strip of material having a head 12 with an apertured portion 19, a stem 11 with an apertured portion 18, the apertures 15, 16 being at opposite ends of the strip and one or two arms intermediate the length of the strip, the strip being bent so that the two apertured portions of the strip are approximately parallel with their apertures coaxial and the arm or arms being bowed about an axis approximately perpendicular to that of the apertures so as to form a snap engaging mouth. As shown in Fig. 4 two arms 13, 14 are provided and these have lead-in flanges 21 and 22. In a modification however, a single arm is provided and this bent to the shape of a part cylinder with a snap-engaging mouth having a single lead-in flange. The fastener having two arms is formed with a longitudinal slot 20 to aid the resilience of the mouth but this is omitted from the construction having a single arm. One or both of the apertures can be formed with a flange to act as a bearing surface. The fastener is used to form an articulated joint between a cranked rod and an apertured bar. The aperture in the bar is placed between the two apertured portions and the crank of the rod is passed through the two apertures 15, 16 and the aperture in the bar. The snap-engaging mouth is engaged with the stem of the rod.
