Abstract

A resilient metal fastener comprises a plate-like body having means extending from one side for engaging one of the members to be secured, and extending from the other side, a pair of lugs arranged in spaced staggered formation on the body for engaging the other member, each lug being sheared and bent out of the general plane of the body so as to have a " land " which is obliquely inclined, with respect to the body both longitudinally and transversely with respect to the length of the lug. In the arrangement shown as applied to a fastener for attaching C-section beading to a panel, the fastener comprises a plate 21 bowed about a longitudinal axis and having upturned side edges or arms 24 for gripping the beading. The plate is attached to the panel by means of a pair of spaced lugs 27, 28 sheared and bent from the plate, the lugs being engaged in corresponding holes in the panel by passing the lugs downwardly through the holes and then twisting the plate so that the lugs engage the underside of the edges of the hole, the flat part or land of each lug being inclined both longitudinally and transversely with respect to the lug. In a modification Figs. 11 to 13, (not shown) the lugs are sheared and bent from opposite edges of the plate. In another arrangement Fig. 14 (not shown) having lugs similar to those of Fig. 2, the plate is extended and bent over to form a resilient arm for holding electric cables the part of the plate carrying the lugs being bowed about a transverse axis. In modifications Figs. 15 and 16 (not shown) the lugs engage respectively a pair of round and elongated holes in the panel.
