784,974. Valve gear. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. March 13, 1956 [March 23, 1955], No. 7847/56. Class 7(6) The end of a valve stem 1 actuated dtirecth by a cam 9 is provide( with a tappet head 5 which permits rotatior of the valve relative thereto but is itself pre vented from rotation by a slidingly guided projection 16 and prevented from movement transversely of the stem by the valve stem. The valve is opened by the cam 9 and closed by a forked lever 11 the arms of which engage under a shoulder 3 on the valve stem. The tappet head 5 fits over the shoulder 3 and has a bore engaging a projection 4 on the end of the stem, rotation of the tappet head being prevented by the projection 16 sliding between the arms 12 of the lever 11. A replaceable washer 7 is placed between the shoulder 3 and the tappet head 5.
