Abstract
784,405. Pneumatic conveyers. BLAW KNOX, Ltd. Sept. 29, 1955 [Sept. 29, 1954], No. 28147/54. Class 78 (1). In a storage bin for handling pulverulent materials the material rests on a sheet 11, Fig. 1, of foamed rubber latex which is,supported by a perforated plate (not shown) of metal or other rigid material and below which is a chamber 15 to which air under pressure can be supplied. The sheet 11 assumes a domed shape when air is admitted to the chamber 15. When this occurs its pores are opened or expanded so that air passes freely therethrough to fluidize the material. The metal support may be replaced by pervious material, e.g. hessian, bonded to the rubber. In a modification the material rests on a series of strips 16, Fig. 2, of foamed rubber latex which is clamped between partition members 17 and underlying tray elements 18 to form chambers 19 to all, or any selected one, of which air can be supplied. In another modification the trays are replaced by corrugated material.
