782,568. Supplying electric fences ; systems of charging and discharging condensers. ROBSON, C. W., and COOPER-STEWART ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Feb. 4, 1955 [Feb. 26, 1954], No. 5785/54. Class 38 (4). A supply system for an electric fence 13 comprises a main condenser 4 permanently on charge, through a resistor 3, from a source 1 which is normally connected to the fence through resistor 8 and the winding and back contacts 12, 17, respectively, of a relay 5. Upon an animal touching the fence, current is 'drawn from the battery through the relay winding, the relay responds and changes over its contacts, whereby the fence disconnected from the source 1 and simultaneously a shock voltage is applied to the fence, over a spark gap or discharge tube 16, by a step-up transformer 11 through which the condenser 4 is discharged by closure of the front contacts 18 of the relay. The relay is made slow to release by a rectifier 14 which shunts its winding 12. An auxiliary condenser 9 charged over the back contacts of the relay causes the relay to cycle at low frequency if the animal remains in contact with the fence, so that a succession of shock voltage pulses are supplied to the fence.
