Abstract

895,199. Discharge - tube relay circuits. ELECTRONICS CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Feb. 7, 1961 [March 8, 1960], No. 4604/61. Class 40(6). [Also in Groups X1 and XL(b)] A flame detection circuit comprises a coldcathode discharge tube 15 and a relay 18 connected in series across taps 7, 10 of the secondary winding of a transformer. A capacitor 14 is charged from the upper end of the transformer winding via the rectifying property of electrode 12 located in the flame of burner 11, so that the tube 15 fires, energizing relay 18. Energization is maintained on negative half cycles by the charge on capacitor 23. Failure of the flame results in discharge of capacitor 14, extinguishing of tube 15 at the next negative half cycle and release of relay 18. The flame electrode 12 may be replaced by a photoemissive cell:
