905,939. Protective arrangements. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 31, 1959 [Aug. 5, 1958], No. 26353/59. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (b)] A safety device for protecting a vibrator unit 3 against excessive amplitudes comprises contacts 4, 5 which, when the amplitudes are excessive, close and fire a gas-discharge tube 6, 8, thus decreasing the resistance of a light cell 7 connected across the output of an oscillator 1 feeding a high power amplifier 2 through a transformer. At the same time a valve 14 is fired which disconnects and shunts the transformer primary winding through a relay 12, 13. A capacitor 9 and a resistor 10 may be connected into the circuit to give only a single flash.
