Abstract
1483254 Electric spark generating device MANSEI KOGYO K K 15 Aug 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 35908/74 Heading F1B An electric spark generating device, for example for cigarette lighters, comprises in combination a battery 1, switch means S connected in series with the battery, inverter means 2, 3 connected to the switch means, a diode 4 connected in series with the inverter means, condenser means 6 connected to the diode, a silicon controlled rectifier 7 connected to the condenser means, trigger means 11, 12 connected between the gate electrode of the silicon controlled rectifier and the condenser means and a step up transformer 8 having a primary winding and a secondary winding, the primary winding of the step up transformer being connected between the silicon controlled rectifier 7, and the condenser means 6 and the secondary winding of the step up transformer being connected to ignition electrodes 9, 10 defining a spark gap, the arrangement being such that when the condenser means is charged to a predetermined level the trigger means is operative to trigger the silicon controlled rectifier at the predetermined level of the charged voltage on the condenser means whereupon the condenser means discharges through the silicon controlled rectifier and the primary winding of the step up transformer to produce a voltage in the secondary winding of the step up transformer and generate a spark at the spark gap. As shown the trigger means includes a programmable uni-junction transistor 11. A Zener diode and a resistor (not shown) may be connected between the switch S and the inverter. Reference is made to use of a Zener diode or a DIAC in place of the programmable uni-junction transistor 11.
