Abstract

1,256,885. Pulse generating circuits. WIPAC DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 14 Feb., 1969 [23 April, 1968], No. 19205/68. Heading H3T. [Also in Division F1] A gas burner igniter has a spark gap 49 connected to a pulse generator comprising an output transformer 25 having its primary winding connected in series with a silicon controlled rectifier 30 across a capacitor 23, there being no triggering source connected to the gate of the controlled rectifier. The capacitor 23 charges until the avalanche breakdown voltage of the S.C.R. is reached, when the capacitor discharges into the primary winding. The S.C.R. is protected against reverse high voltage by diode 50. The charging circuit for the capacitor comprises a diode 22 and a mains-fed transformer network or a D.C. powered transformer-coupled inverter oscillator.
