Abstract

1,240,481. Semi-conductor pulse generators. WOLSELEY ENG. Ltd. 21 April, 1969 [19 April, 1968], No. 18497/68. Heading H3T. A pulse generator comprising an input transformer L, F, S which provides an A.C. signal for charging a capacitor C1 via a diode D1, and a discharge path for the capacitor through a breakdown device TH and a further transformer, is characterized in that the breakdown device TH is triggered by a further breakdown device D3 which is controlled by a voltage which is a known fraction of the voltage across the capacitor C1 The breakdown device TH is preferably a thyristor, but may be an avalanche diode triggered via a further transformer. The other breakdown device D3 may be an avalanche diode, a PNPN diode or a neon. The A.C. input signal is provided by connecting the transformer windings L, F to a transistor T to constitute a blocking oscillator. The triggering voltage for diode D3 is provided by a further rectifier circuit D2, C2 connected to a tapping on winding L. A voltage doubler circuit may provide the supply to capacitor C1.
