Abstract

PURPOSE:To operate the engine with safety, by stopping the secondary high voltage produced in the secondary side of an ignition coil at the time of ON by means of a high voltage diode provided inside of an ignition coil being formed as its integral part. CONSTITUTION:AC signal synchronized with the rotation of the internal combustion engine is generated by AC signal generator 1. This is made into a rectangular waveform output by waveform shaper 2. By this rectangular waveform output, power transistor 23 is turned ON and OFF, which in turn turns ON and OFF primary coil 4a. When a negative high voltage is produced in the lower side terminal of secondary coil 4b, this ignites both ignition plugs 8a and 8b via high voltage diode 7. When a negative high voltage is produced in the upper side terminal of secondary coil 4b and a positive high voltage is produced in the lower side terminal, these are blocked by high voltage diode 7, and ignition plugs 8a and 8b are not ignited.
